That Shit Flyer

Check the design credits on that flyer, son! Come chill with me and other cool people on MAY 9th @ Lenny’s (486 Decatur St. SE) for THAT SHIT. Aside from the crazy lineup of artists performing, I will be a special guest hype-man for The Fresh, and my man Grady will be performing his new track “Everybody Hatin”, which I produced, for the very first time.

Kato - Crash and Burn (Prod. by Doolayz)

I think the last time I recorded a joint was last year (for Ears & Voices). It’s definitely been a long minute since I’ve hopped on the mic, but my man Doolayz (reppin’ overseas, Paris big ups!) hit me up for a collab. His crew, Boonztapes, have been droppin’ mixtapes over there independently for a while, and it was a pleasure to step back from production for a quick second and start writing again. The result…. “Crash and Burn.”

I literally just finished mixing down this track a few days ago, ya’ll are the VERY first people to hear it, before it drops on the mixtape.

Update 4/13/09: The final version of this song will have an additional verse from the homie Doolayz, along with changes to the beat, so stay tuned and look out for that Boonztapes mixtape!

Episode #3 @ Fishmarket in ATL

Posted: April 5th, 2009 | Author: Kato | Filed under: Blog | No Comments »

ATL’s finest gathered for the Rock Heart Inc premiere party a few nights ago, and it was nice. Caught up with The Fresh (duh), Wes Green (super-producing, rapping, action hero), and a special interview with the Wheeler Boys, talkin’ about their new album set to drop this Fall!

Say BOW!

Posted: April 4th, 2009 | Author: Kato | Filed under: Blog | 2 Comments »

I was at the Blue Flame Lounge in Bankhead a few nights ago with my dude Mike Petrone and VH1, shooting for this new TV pilot called “Dream Makers.” As I was walking in, I immediately recognized DJ Toomp (produced for Jay-Z, T.I., Kanye West, The Game, etc.) chillin’ by the bar, which was real cool, because I look up to him for his great production work. Anyway, as the night went on, Collipark Music arrived with their artist, V.I.C. who has a new single out titled “Say Bow!” feat. J-Money. Ever since then, I can’t get the shit outta my head! I guess the DJ was feelin’ it too, because he played it several times that night.

HOWEVER… I didn’t realize it at the time, but the track also features J-Money, who I later realized sounds IDENTICAL to Yung L.A. of Grand Hustle. There’s a serious case of swagger-jacking here, and I’m not sure who is the originator, but it’s crazy to hear how similar they sound. The flow and even the rhymes themselves are almost the exact same. Listen to J-Money in “Say Bow!” and then listen to Yung L.A. in “Ain’t I” (remix) if you don’t believe me…
